How to book a baptism
 
A baptism form needs to be completed at least 2 weeks before the baptism date.

Fr. David likes to talk with candidates or parents to get an understanding as to why they feel they would like a baptism to take place at St Matthias, and what baptism means to them.
 
Normally, baptisms take place during the 11 am 
Parish Mass held on Sundays.
 
Baptisms are free because God's grace is freely given. However, you can make a donation to church funds if you wish.

Godparents

Usually, a child has 3 godparents, two of the same sex as the child and one of the opposite sex. But if you have problems finding three godparents, two will be sufficient.
 
Parents can be godparents to their own children as long as the child has at least one other godparent.
 
 
Sponsors
 
For candidates who are no longer children, sponsors can take the place of godparents.

Godparents and sponsors should normally be baptized and confirmed. However, the requirement for confirmation can be relaxed in certain cases.
